SBS Korea’s “Cruel Temptation” to get English and Spanish versions for U.S. and LatAm

The Korean revenge drama series has also been remade in China and the Philippines.

 

Los Angeles – Global production and distribution company, Sierra/Engine Television, has acquired the format rights to SBS International's Korean revenge drama series, Cruel Temptation. Sierra/Engine is teaming up with former Sony SVP Brendan Fitzgerald's company, Pomodoro Stories, on the development of a Spanish language format for the U.S. Hispanic and Latin American markets and the English-speaking U.S. market.
“We're very pleased to start a great partnership with one of the most important producers and distributors in the world, which will be a key factor as we position our products in the U.S. and Latin American market. We are looking forward to working with Sierra/Engine and Global Content Group in seeing Cruel Temptation developed in both English and Spanish versions,” said, Yunjeung Jo, President of SBS International.
Cruel Temptation achieved high ratings in Korea with over 129 episodes. The series clinched the top spot on SBS in viewers halfway during its run until the final episode according to Korean audience research company, TNmS. In addition, the series has been successfully remade in both China and the Philippines.
