Prensario International magazine, Natpe 2013 edition
Launched in October 2012, Sierra/Engine Television (USA) is a new production and distribution company, headed by Chris Philip. Based in Los Angeles with offices in London and Mexico, Sierra Engine is debuting at Natpe in Miami. It is a joint venture between Sierra Affinity and Engine, which combined their catalogs for the international market. "We distribute four American dramas:Crossbones (10x’60, NBC), Hunters (13x’60, ABC), The After (13x’60) and Rescue 3. They are available for the fall of this year. We are also co-producing several reality projects with international producers and are creating original content for the U.S. networks', highlights Philip of Prensario.

Sierra/Engine takes Korean format to US
Feature film specialist Sierra/Engine is continuing its push into television by picking up the US rights to a Korean drama series.
Nick Meyer and Marc Schaberg’s Sierra/Affinity and Chris Philip’s Engine partnered in September last year to move into the television market.
The new company has now acquired the format to SBS International’s Korean revenge drama Cruel Temptation which it will develop for the English-speaking US market.
Sierra/Engine will also partner with Pomodoro Studios, helmed by former Sony senior VP Brendan Fitzgerald, to develop a Spanish language version for the US Hispanic and Latin American markets.
The original series aired 129 episodes in Korea with a 40% audience share on SBS. It has previously been remade in China and the Philippines.
The plot starts with a woman who is thought to have drowned after finding that her husband had cheated on her with her best friend. Her body is discovered by a wealthy businesswoman who assumes her identity and sets out for revenge.
The deal was brokered by Stu Tenzer at Coast Road Media and Jeremiah McMillan at Global Content Group.

US producer and distributor Sierra/Engine Television has picked up rights to hit Korean drama Cruel Temptation and will shop it as a scripted format internationally.
Sierra/Engine Television picked up the rights from SBS International, the commercial arm of Korean free-to-air broadcaster SBS.
The US company will team with former Sony senior VP Brendan Fitzgerald’s company, Pomodoro Stories, on the development of the Spanish language format for the US Hispanic and Latin American markets.
“We’re very pleased to start a great partnership with one of the most important producers and distributors in the world, which will be a key factor as we position our products in the U.S. and Latin American market,” said Yunjeung Jo, president of SBS International.

Cruel Temptation was a big hit for SBS, generating a 40% audience share over a 100+ episode run. Local versions of the show have already been made in China and the Philippines.
The telenovela-esque series tells the story of a woman who fakes her own death before going on to seek revenge on her cheating husband and best friend.

Cruel Temptation achieved high ratings in Korea with over 129 episodes. The series clinched the top spot on SBS in viewers halfway during its run until the final episode according to Korean audience research company, TNmS. In addition, the series has been successfully remade in both China and the Philippines.

Sierra/Engine makes it right
Sierra/Engine Television has acquired international distribution rights to HGTV’s new home makeover show, Holmes Makes It Right.The 26x30’ series is the third spin-off from the Holmes on Homes franchise, featuring DIY expert Mike Holmes, which began life on the Scripps Networks Interactive-owned cablenet 10 years ago.
The new show follows Holmes as he sets out to resolve a string of cowboy builder horrors. The original franchise has aired in over 100 countries.
It’s the latest pick-up for US distributor Sierra/Engine, which recently added supernatural reality series Ghostbreakers (18x30’) to its slate.
On the scripted side it has NBC pirate drama Crossbones (10x60’) and The After (13x60’) – both from Georgeville Entertainment, plus Rescue 3 (22x60’), from the creator of Baywatch.

Sierra/Engine Television has acquired the international distribution rights to Holmes Makes it Right, the
third spin-off to the successful franchise fronted by renovator extraordinaire
Mike Holmes.
Chris Philip, the CEO of Sierra/ Engine said in a
statement, “Mike Holmes is a pioneer in the home improvement space; his
informed and unvarnished style has attracted viewers worldwide. We have been
successfully selling his content for years and look forward to continuing to
work with the Holmes group.”
Holmes
Makes it Right (26 X 30) follows Holmes as he helps home owners and
families that are in particularly challenging home fixing situations.
