ABC delves into Black Box

US network ABC has given new drama The Black Box a straight-to-series order, with the show set to air in 2014.
The 13-episode series centres on a talented neuroscientist and her struggles with mental illness.
It will be produced by US company Bold Films, in what will be its first foray into TV following feature films including Drive.
The Black Box, written by Amy Holden Jones (Mystic Pizza), will be executive produced by Anne Thomopoulos, Bryan Singer, Ilene Chaiken and Oly Obst.
It will be distributed worldwide by Sierra/Engine Television, which has offices in the US, Mexico and London.
The commission is the fourth US scripted series to be handled by joint venture Sierra/Engine, which was formed in September 2012 by LA-based Sierra Affinity and Engine Entertainment.
The firm is currently distributing and producing NBC’s Siberia (Infinity Films), among other programmes.
